Our founder Prof. Dr. iur. Mehmet Köksal founded Köksal Law Firm in 1987. Köksal has been operating as an attorney partnership since 2007 and is one of the leading firms in Istanbul, especially in the field of German - Turkish commercial relations. Our client portfolio predominantly includes mid-tier and large scale companies of European and Asian origin that invest or trade in Türkiye and Northern Cyprus. We also consult and represent public institutions, various foundations and associations.

The new German Supply Chaın Due Dılıgence Act

New obligations for Turkish companies that carry on business with Germany and the EU

The Law on The New German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz or LkSG) will enter in force on 1 January 2023. Although this Law has been published and will be implemented in Germany, its implications will also arise on Turkish companies in Türkiye, and if Turkish companies do not abide by this Law, it will even be possible for them to become incapable of doing business with Germany. Aim of the Law is to provide the German companies with being aware towards civil rights and environment worldwide during ever increasingly international trade. There is no other ensample of legal regulation enacted in parallel with this purpose.
